Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the international break, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.
In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' new record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.
"I won't force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football side," he added.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our team for several years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this game will be quite close, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.
West Ham's only on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously Forest coach.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.
A family member told me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.
They have not had much success on the road this season, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually proves to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.
They have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to back the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.
But I am not do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.
Considering Fulham's home form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be extremely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
